Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking a Customer Reliability Engineer or Technical Specialist to work on-site at a customer facility in the United States. You will perform seal evaluations, selections, and recommendations with oversight from the account manager and regional engineer, and may lead one or more reliability personnel.

This role requires hands-on installation, data collection, and reporting using ServiceMax and other tools; travel is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred
• 1-2 years' experience with mechanical seals and rotating equipment
• Proficiency in PC software; Lean/Kaizen experience is a plus
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high‑stress environment
• Willing to travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Reviews customer applications and recommends MTBR improvements with oversight
• Directs installation and commissioning of mechanical seals and their auxiliary systems
• Collects and evaluates customer data; reports results using reliability software
• Provides customer training and supports Management of Change
