Zero Zone in Ramsey, MN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop complex refrigeration systems for commercial and industrial markets. You will create refrigeration schematics, size components, compile bills of materials, and review customer plans while interfacing with sales, service, and production.

Responsibilities include heat load calculations, selecting system components, and supporting manufacturing with a hands-on approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proven experience with CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, Creo).
• Familiarity with FEA tools and structural analysis methods. CFD experience is preferred.
• Experience with sheet metal, plastics, and thermal systems is a plus.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM principles.

Responsabilités

• Design refrigeration systems for commercial and industrial environments including chilled water, halocarbon-based systems, CO2, and industrial ammonia facilities.
• Select, schedule, size and specify system components (air distribution, handling, refrigeration, piping, heat exchangers, pumps, accessories).
• Perform heat load calculations to determine refrigeration requirements and thermodynamic analysis for sizing and selection.
• Review refrigeration components during manufacturing and recommend design modifications.
• Design products to meet quality, cost, energy, and customer requirements, and company standards.
• Meet design schedules and budgets and communicate with internal and external customers.
