Job summary

ABB in the United States seeks a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to provide lifecycle technical support for Above NEMA motor and generator products (>500 hp). The role, onsite and US‑based, reports to the VP of the Regional Business Line and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

You will assist in design, development, and modifications, create CAD drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Creo, and analyze data to support regional market needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 0–5 years of experience in rotating machinery design and development or application of Motors and Generators preferred.
  • Familiarity with NEMA/IEC/CSA/IEEE standards and CAD tools.
  • Experience with finite element analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation).
  • Proficient communication skills and teamwork in cross-functional settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide lifecycle technical support for existing and new Above NEMA product offerings.
  • Collaborate with Local Business Lines and Modification Centers on lifecycle maintenance and product modifications.
  • Support R&D engineers in development of motors and generators for regional requirements.
  • Collect, review, and analyze engineering data, test results, and reports.
  • Create concept and detailed CAD drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Creo.
