Job summary

Intuitive Accessories are the interface between all aspects of the da Vinci system, enabling safe and effective robot-assisted surgery. The Mechanical Engineer, Product Engineering for Single-Port Accessories will support across the product portfolio, driving improvements for cost and manufacturability while enhancing reliability and usability.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical intuition and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with design for manufacturability and reliability.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering required; MSME preferred.
• Min 4 years hardware product design; 2 years with MS.
• Experience with plastics and silicone rubber material properties.
• Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks) and FEA.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Work within multi-disciplinary teams to design, develop, and document mechanical components and assemblies for surgical system accessories.
• Review and define functional requirements and maintain Design History Files.
• Analyze risk of component failure (FMEA) and implement mitigations.
• Create and maintain product specifications and manufacturing drawings.
• Prototype, test, and analyze designs; iterate rapidly.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and supplier engineering for transfer to production.
• Establish goals aligned with project and company objectives.
