Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer focused on product development to join their Welkom team. You will drive the full product lifecycle from ideation and design through prototyping, testing, and market launch, contributing to innovative solutions.

The role requires a strong CAD background (Inventor or SolidWorks), at least 6 years in product development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
• 6+ years of progressive experience in product development and mechanical design.
• Proficiency with CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks) and PDM systems.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including injection molding, stamping, and machining.
• Experience with product testing methodologies and data analysis.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine mechanical components and systems for new product introductions.
• Conduct rigorous testing and validation of prototypes to ensure performance, durability, and safety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including industrial design, marketing, and manufacturing.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for production.
• Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions to improve product quality.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and materials relevant to product development.
