Job summary

Kelly Engineering is seeking a DIRECT HIRE Mechanical Engineer to join a leading client specializing in precision engineering for energy, nuclear, and marine industries. The role covers pre-sale technical support through detailed engineering, creating fabrication drawings and BOMs, and serving as the lead technical representative on proposals and projects.

Requires ABET-accredited degree and 3–5 years in manufacturing with engineered-to-order products; familiarity with ASME, API, NFPA; ProMax

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with engineered-to-order products.
Knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI and other industry standards.
Experience applying NFPA requirements for electrical area classification to designs.
Experience designing process control systems using pneumatic, electro‑mechanical, and electronic devices.

Responsibilities

Evaluate customer data to extract requirements for quoting and detailed engineering.
Engage with customers, project managers, and commercial team to discuss scope gaps.
Identify customer-driven scope changes and elevate to project manager or commercial lead.
Develop P&IDs from scratch or by redlining existing drawings.
Perform equipment sizing calculations using ProMax and in-house tools.
Review and approve 3D models and drawings per SOPs.
Perform process design calculations for valves and regulators.
Perform ASME code calculations using Codeware.
Other duties as required.
