Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Valley Green, PA to design mechanisms for reliable connector alignment and misalignment tolerance. You will work on steel/aluminum components, guide pins, and bearings, interfacing with customers and suppliers for robust prototypes.

The role requires BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, strong analytical skills, and experience with solid modeling and FEA.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in mechanism design and kinematics.
• Proficiency with solid modeling tools (e.g., Pro/E) and FEA tools; experience with simulation software for mechanical systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanisms for connector alignment using steel and aluminum components, ensuring reliability under misalignment conditions.
• Integrate new technologies and cost-effective manufacturing methods into mechanism designs for new product releases.
• Manage product-related documentation and specifications at the component level, including manufacturing processes and field performance.
• Serve as the customer focal point for technical information on mechanisms and guidance related to alignment performance and material durability.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing personnel to develop and validate mechanism prototypes through pilot production and testing.
• Oversee transition of mechanisms and processes from NPI to volume manufacturing in low-cost regions.
• Provide technical assistance to drafters, designers, engineers, and support personnel for mechanism designs.
• Support design with tolerance analysis, FEA, material evaluations, and failure analysis for mechanical mechanisms.
• Lead efforts in identifying new or alternative materials and benchmarking them.
• Collaborate with product designers on design reviews and testing of new mechanisms.
• Create/manage test plans to support the NPI process, simulating misalignment scenarios.
• Identify and drive cost improvements, quality enhancements, and performance benchmarking for connector mechanisms.
