Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS) in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Mechanisms Focus) to design and develop alignment mechanisms for high-performance connectors, working with steel and aluminum components, pins, bearings, springs, and levers.

You will perform tolerance analysis, FEA, material evaluations, and collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to translate NPI concepts into robust, manufacturable products across global facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in mechanism design and kinematics.
  • Proficiency with solid modeling tools and FEA software; knowledge of bearings and pins helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanisms for connector alignment, including pins, bearings, springs, and structural components in steel and aluminum.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and material evaluations for mechanical mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, engineering teams, and customers to validate prototypes and ensure manufacturability.
