Job summary

Formlabs in Boston is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, prototype, and mass-produce precision desktop 3D printers. You will prototype mechanisms, test materials, and tackle 3D printing challenges.

You will analyze electro-mechanical systems, create CAD drawings in Solidworks or Onshape, and collaborate with Global Sourcing and Manufacturing to scale from prototype to production. You’ll push the limits of desktop 3D printing and maximize customer value.

Qualifications

• Experience with full product development cycle.
• Ability to prototype parts and test materials for 3D printing challenges.
• Strong CAD skills and detail-oriented drawings.
• Collaborates with sourcing and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Prototype new mechanisms, test materials, and research 3D printing challenges
• Analyze, test, validate and iterate on electro-mechanical systems
• Create detailed designs in CAD and well-specified, accurate drawings
• Collaborate with our Global Sourcing and Manufacturing Teams to bring designs from prototype to mass production
• Push the capabilities of 3D printing
