Job summary

Mainspring Energy is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to own defined-scope mechanical tasks for the Linear Generator platform, designing hardware and supporting analysis and testing while coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, test, and service teams.

The role requires engineers who can independently own defined-scope work with strong fundamentals in parts, assemblies, thermal/fluid systems, and electromechanical packaging.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Experience designing, analyzing, testing, and iterating mechanical hardware through multiple project phases.
• Ability to independently own defined-scope engineering work with deliverables.
• Strong mechanical fundamentals across parts, assemblies, and thermal/fluid systems.
• Ability to use data and engineering judgment to evaluate designs and plan next steps.
• Clear communication of assumptions, decisions, risks, results, and status.

Responsibilities

• Own defined-scope mechanical tasks, workstreams, or moderate-complexity projects.
• Design moderately complex parts, assemblies, fixtures, or subsystems with manufacturability and safety in mind.
• Use calculations, tests, and data to validate designs and guide improvements.
• Develop and execute test plans and document findings to support release decisions.
• Track deliverables and dependencies, communicating blockers early.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, test, reliability, suppliers, and service teams.
