Job summary

Harley Ellis Devereaux is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer - Plumbing in Addison, TX. The role focuses on ownership of portions of project design, documentation, and coordination from concept through construction.

The candidate will mentor junior staff, contribute to calculations and code research, and participate in design strategy discussions while maintaining QA/QC standards. Hybrid collaboration is encouraged within a robust engineering team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in the AEC industry with mechanical emphasis.
• Strong communication and organization skills for cross-discipline coordination.
• Proven ability to lead design development and document control.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and calculations for mechanical systems across schematic, design development, and construction document phases.
• Independently perform mechanical design tasks including load calculations, equipment sizing, controls sequences and diagrams, and code compliance checks.
• Prepare technical documentation for mechanical systems, including system descriptions, narratives, specifications, and schedules.
• Develop and review mechanical system layouts in Revit for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection in coordination with architectural/structural teams.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to resolve design conflicts and progress the design.
• Review RFIs and submittals with support from engineers; assist with field verification and construction observation.
• Mentor mechanical designers and interns in software use, modeling, and documentation standards.
