PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for the design and technical systems for large, complex projects from schematics through construction administration.
TYPICAL DUTIES - PROJECT RELATED
- Responsible for building system concepts and documentation process from schematics through construction administration phases within the discipline.
- Function as Discipline Team Leader on large, complex projects when assigned.
- Responsible for directing and overseeing project team members within the discipline.
- Prepare and monitor project status reports.
- Prepare and document required code research for the project.
- Participate in developing the project cost model and design accordingly.
- Develop and maintain the Mechanical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project.
- Conduct material and product research as needed for project development.
- Attend project meetings as required.
- Interface with other Discipline Team Leaders.
- Respond to client questions/requests within 24 hours.
- Review documents during bidding and construction administration, including interpretation and submittals.
- Monitor staff to ensure quality architectural and engineering services within a team concept.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
TYPICAL DUTIES - NON-PROJECT RELATED
- Mentor support engineers to prepare them for greater responsibilities.
- Provide feedback on support engineers' performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve quality and services, and participate in their implementation.
- Participate in in-house training activities.
- Engage in related professional organizations and activities.
- Recognize staff members performing excellent work or exceeding expectations.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree and licensure required.
- LEED Accredited.
- Minimum six years' experience in the A/E industry.
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional services from schematic design through project close-out, including technical expertise.
- Comprehensive understanding of coordination across all design disciplines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to motivate, mentor staff, and delegate work.
- Proficiency in computer and CADD software.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel to project sites for meetings and site observations.
- Access to existing and new project sites for evaluation.
- Use of communication and documentation equipment.
- Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
