Job summary

Anduril Industries in the United States seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the Copperhead family of UUVs, collaborating with electrical and software teams to ensure robust, maintainable systems across rugged maritime environments.

You will own mechanical design from concept to low-rate production, lead design reviews, qualify vendors, and ensure cost-effective, standards-compliant solutions while maintaining a focus on field-ready capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of mechanical design and testing in maritime, aerospace, or defense systems, with maritime preferred.
• Proven CAD skills (Siemens NX preferred) and the ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings that comply with common industry standards.
• Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collaboratively design, develop, and deliver robust, unified, and productized support systems for Copperhead UUVs, ensuring deployment, recovery, operation, and maintenance in rugged environments.
• Develop mechanical solutions for launch/recovery mechanisms, handling gear, transport/storage, and testing equipment.
• Lead vendor qualification for COTS components and outsourced manufacturing/design of support systems.
• Own and drive mechanical systems from concept to low-rate production.
• Lead requirements definition and evaluation methodologies for support systems.
