Job summary

Laitram Machinery, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to assist senior engineers on various projects including new product development, improvements, data analysis, and manufacturing/process enhancements. The role reports to the Engineering Manager and requires collaboration with Manufacturing/Sales/Service teams.

Responsibilities include design, analysis, CAD modeling, BOM management, testing, and cross-department coordination. Travel domestically and internationally is required as needed.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Strong analytical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Component research (bearings, motors, etc.).
• Machine design and structural analysis.
• 3D CAD.
• Bill of materials, product structure, inventory issues related to design changes.
• Prototype specification/assembly.
• Testing and post processing of collected data.
• Meetings - schedule, agenda, minutes, follow up.
• Project specification preparation.
• Timeline preparation/monitoring.
• Input from other departments on proposed design changes.
• Administering project check-off lists.
• Implementation of solutions.
• Manual preparation - assembly, parts, operations.
• Field work - research problems, monitor tests, installations.
