Job summary

Laitram Machinery, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to collaborate with senior engineers on diverse projects, including new product development, process improvements, and technical support across Manufacturing, Sales, and Service. The role reports to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities include component research, 3D CAD design, BOM handling, prototype assembly, testing, and coordinating cross-functional efforts. Travel domestically and abroad may be required.

Qualifications

• B.S. Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Willingness to travel domestically and abroad as needed.
• Strong analytical aptitude and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Support senior engineers on new product development and improvements.
• Perform 3D CAD design and structural analysis tasks.
• Develop BOMs, product structures, and track design changes.
• Prototype specification and assembly, testing, and data review.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing/Sales/Service for technical support.
• Prepare project timelines and document meeting minutes.
• Assist with field installations and post-test data processing.

Project types could include: new product development, product improvements, data analysis, Manufacturing/Service process improvement, technical support for Manufacturing/Sales/Service. This position will report to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

• Component research (bearings, motors, etc.)
• Machine design and structural analysis
• 3D CAD
• Bill of materials, product structure, inventory issues related to design changes
• Prototype specification/assembly
• Testing and post processing of collected data
• Meetings - schedule, agenda, minutes, follow up
• Project specification preparation
• Timeline preparation/monitoring
• Input from other departments on proposed design changes
• Administering project check-off lists
• Implementation of solutions
• Manual preparation - assembly, parts, operations
• Field work - research problems, monitor tests, installations

Requirements

• B.S. Mechanical Engineering
