Job Summary
Uni-Systems Engineering is looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer that has the internal drive to change the moving world around them while pushing themselves to develop at the same time. This individual will have the opportunity to play a key role in creating world renown operable structures that are highly visible to the public eye. This position will perform design and engineering tasks, and coordinate work with drafters and engineers both within and outside the company. Responsibilities include CAD sketching and analysis, in addition to engineering calculations.
The person in this role may be responsible for project engineering on small to medium-sized projects from design development through installation and commissioning.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and engineer components and mechanical systems. Includes design calculations/ documentation, design sketches, drawings (design phase and final drawings), and writing material and performance specifications.
- Actively participate in scheduled design reviews with contractors, architects, engineering consultants, and other project team members.
- Review and participate in prototype testing of new assemblies/structures.
- Perform QA inspections at manufacturing and fabrication shops before shipment to job site.
- Provide project status updates as required for Project Review and other company meetings.
- Stay current with codes and requirements that apply to specific engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical expertise to support Uni-Systems Sales and Marketing efforts.
- If applicable, monitor project design costs and progress to ensure that approved project budget and schedule goals are achieved. Facilitate client communication.
- Drive continuous improvement by finding ways to enhance quality and performance with shop and field assembly, adjustment, function, aesthetics, costs, and maintenance.
Job Requirements
- Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR due to access to export-controlled technical data.
- 0-2 years’ experience with B.S. Degree from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering
- Engineer-in-Training certification, or plans to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, preferred.
- Knowledge of current codes, standards, and requirements applicable to the mechanical engineering discipline.
- Proficiency in analysis and design software relevant to the business.
- Results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, vendors, and customers.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing work.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to complex projects and business challenges.
- Experience incorporating client input to develop innovative and creative solutions to multifaceted problems preferred.
- Familiarity with engineering software, particularly SolidWorks and Mathcad, preferred.
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques and experience working in a machine shop environment preferred.
- Exposure to mechanical equipment and systems, along with a general hands-on aptitude, preferred.
