The Role:
The Mechanical Engineer IV will be part of a global, cross-disciplinary team implementing, validating, and maintaining mechanical subsystems for current and future printers. You will work with talented engineers in a global environment, building complex products from proof of concept to production, across various printing technologies, aligned with our customers' needs and strategic objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive quality and efficiency within the Mechanical Engineering team by setting high standards in design and analysis.
- Lead and contribute to the design of new product concepts, translating functional requirements into manufacturable solutions.
- Perform CAD design, engineering simulations, and mechanical lab experiments to support design validation and reliability.
- Conduct lab and field tests to verify operation and reliability of designs and components.
- Engage with customers and product managers to capture and analyze requirements, developing functional specifications.
- Provide technical expertise during design reviews and problem-solving activities.
- Implement state-of-the-art mechanical engineering practices such as rapid prototyping, tolerance analysis, and FEA.
- Present designs and findings in technical meetings and reviews, demonstrating strong technical skills.
- Assist project managers with estimates and work breakdowns; generate detailed analysis reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, third-party partners, and suppliers, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Improve mechanical engineering practices and tools to enhance team efficiency and quality.
- Lead and facilitate effective communication with third-party engineering partners.
- Ensure smooth transfer of designs and updates to the supply chain team.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and serve as a resource within the company.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of experience in Mechanical R&D within industrial product development.
- Proven ability to lead mechanical design from concept through production.
- Experience with CAD (Creo/Windchill preferred), FEA, and testing in thermal, pneumatics, or electro-mechanical areas.
- Knowledge of Design Change Management processes.
- Familiarity with Agile Design, JIRA, and Multiphysics simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Working knowledge of marking and coding equipment, including drop-on-demand inkjet printers.
- Experience working in cross-functional and international teams.
- Excellent communication skills, autonomous, innovative, and motivating leadership qualities.
