The Role

The Mechanical Engineer IV will be part of a global, cross-disciplinary team implementing, validating, and maintaining mechanical subsystems for Markem-Imaje's current and future printers. You will have the opportunity to work with talented engineers in a global environment, building complex products from proof of concept to production, across various printing technologies to meet customer needs and strategic objectives.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive quality and efficiency within the Mechanical Engineering team by setting an example in high-quality design and analysis.
• Lead and contribute to the design of new product concepts, translating functional requirements into manufacturable design solutions.
• Perform and guide CAD design, engineering simulations, and mechanical lab experiments for design validation and reliability.
• Direct lab and field tests to verify operation and reliability of designs, systems, and components.
• Capture and document customer requirements through engagement with customers and product managers; develop mechanical/system specifications.
• Provide technical expertise during design reviews and problem-solving activities.
• Deploy state-of-the-art mechanical engineering practices such as rapid prototyping, tolerance analysis, and FEA.
• Present designs and findings in technical meetings, design reviews, and problem-solving sessions.
• Assist project managers with estimates, work breakdowns, and detailed analysis reports for decision-making.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with third-party partners and suppliers, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
• Follow and improve mechanical engineering best practices and tools to enhance team efficiency and quality.
• Ensure smooth transfer of designs and updates to the supply chain team.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and serve as a resource across the company.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 10 years of experience in Mechanical R&D within industrial product development.
• Proven ability to lead mechanical design from concept to production.
• Experience with CAD (Creo/Windchill preferred), FEA, and thermal/pneumatics/electromechanical testing.
• Knowledge of Design Change Management processes and Agile practices (using JIRA).
• Proficiency in Multiphysics simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL) is desirable.
• Knowledge of marking and coding equipment, including drop-on-demand inkjet printers.
• Experience working in cross-functional and cross-border environments.
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability.
• Innovative, autonomous, and motivating leadership qualities.
