Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer IV for a contract-to-hire role in Leander, TX. You will contribute to the design, analysis, and testing of moving mechanical assemblies and interfaces, operating within a highly skilled team to drive program success.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of FEA/structural analysis experience and proficiency in Nastran, ANSYS, FEMAP, and Siemens NX. Master’s degree is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of industry experience with FEA/FEM tools (Nastran, ANSYS, FEMAP).
  • Experience designing and analyzing composite and metallic structures.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in hardware lifecycle for moving mechanical assemblies.
  • Develop and scrub requirements.
  • Support configuration development and trade studies.
  • Conceptual design/analysis.
  • First-order strength and sizing calculations.
  • Generate CAD drawings and documentation.
  • Production implementation and test definitions.
  • Demonstrate compliance with NASA/Space Force standards.
  • Collaborate to improve processes.

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer IV

Location: Leander, TX

Employment: Contract to Hire (6 months)

Industry: Aerospace & Defense

Compensation: $ 75-85 /hour

Schedule: 40 hours /week

Job Requirements

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+years of experience in industry FEA/FEM tools like Nastran, ANSYS, FEMAP
  • designing and analyzing composite and metallic structure.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Master's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software (Siemens NX preferable)
  • Ability to effectively work in a multi-discipline team and provide technical guidance and insight
  • Good understanding of first principles from variety of engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural dynamics, materials, fluids/thermodynamics, electrical)
  • Drive for independent learning.
  • Working knowledge of composite manufacturing methods, material selection, and testing.
  • Experience developing physical tests to validate analysis and evaluate assumptions
  • Familiarity with aerospace standard structural analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Shigley's)
  • Previous experience in launch vehicle or spacecraft mechanisms.
  • Working knowledge of at least one computer/scripting language at the professional or hobbyist level.
