Job summary

Aleron is seeking Mechanical Engineers at multiple experience levels to join a collaborative team supporting defense and space programs in Florham Park, NJ. You will contribute to hardware mechanical design, documentation, and prototype development for next-generation technologies in demanding environments.

You'll perform structural and thermal analyses, create CAD models and drawings, and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and program management to ensure robust, compliant designs.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years in mechanical engineering or hardware design.
  • Experience creating mechanical models, assemblies, drawings, and specs.
  • Hands-on prototype development and manufacturing support.
  • Familiarity with structural and thermal analysis methods.
  • Ability to interpret engineering requirements and standards.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop mechanical hardware systems for advanced defense, space, cyber, intelligence, and maritime applications.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, mechanical models, and technical drawings.
  • Develop mechanical concepts, perform design evaluations, and support prototype fabrication activities.
  • Conduct structural, thermal, and mechanical analyses to support product performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support design reviews, testing activities, manufacturing efforts, and product integration initiatives.
  • Ensure designs comply with technical, industry, customer, and government requirements.
What You'll Bring
  • 2-5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, hardware design, product development, or related engineering environments.
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing CAD software to create mechanical models, assemblies, drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting product development, manufacturing, testing, or hardware integration projects.
  • 2+ years of experience creating mechanical models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software.
  • 2+ years of experience applying manufacturing processes, fabrication techniques, and mechanical design principles in a product development or engineering environment.
  • 2+ years of experience interpreting and applying engineering specifications, industry standards, technical requirements, and design documentation.
  • 2+ years of experience performing engineering analysis, technical troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and problem-solving activities.
What Sets You Apart
  • Experience with CREO or other advanced CAD platforms.
  • Mechanical design and hardware documentation expertise.
  • Structural analysis, thermal analysis, and design validation experience.
  • Experience supporting maritime systems, aerospace systems, defense systems, or similar complex products.
  • Ability to lead design efforts, prototype development, and engineering projects.
  • Strong technical writing capabilities, including engineering reports, technical papers, and proposal support.
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management organizations.
  • Creative and innovative approach to solving complex engineering challenges.
  • Interest in applying AI-enabled engineering tools and automation technologies to improve product development processes.
  • Proven mentorship and technical leadership experience.
Additional Information
  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and drug screen.
  • Overtime: May be required based on project schedules and deliverables.
  • Work Environment: Engineering laboratory and office environment supporting advanced defense and technology programs.
  • Schedule: Full-time onsite position with potential 9/80 work schedule option.

  • Successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret DoD security clearance.
