Job summary

RTX is seeking a student intern to contribute to aerospace structural design in a U.S.-based, onsite role at the Assabet building in North Tewksbury, MA. You will assist in designing structures, assemblies, and mechanisms and perform detailed drafting per ASME Y14.5.

The position requires enrollment in a Bachelor’s or higher degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with Sophomore year by Summer 2027, and eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance (citizenship required).

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or higher degree program and will be at least Sophomore by Summer 2027.
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Design of structures, assemblies, and some mechanisms.
  • Detailed design and drafting per ASME Y14.5.
  • Support development hardware procurement and testing.
  • Management of suppliers/subcontractors.
  • Cross-functional coordination to mature designs quickly.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Sophomore year by the start of Summer 2027.
  • Must be pursuing as bachelor’s or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with Creo modeling and drafting
  • Experience with Windchill and configuration management

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
