Job summary

Applied Technical Systems in Panama City, FL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Level 3 to support NSWC Panama City Division programs. You will participate in concept refinement and model development, applying research and analysis to define model requirements and evaluation criteria.

You will assist government SMEs by applying sound engineering judgments to identify problem areas and impact on technical success, and collaborate with project teams across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Secret Clearance (current) required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience supporting government projects and working with Program Managers.
• Experience conducting rapid trade studies and analysis of mechanical solutions.
• Strong knowledge of SolidWorks Design Environment and Product Data Management (PDM).
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
• Collaborate with project managers and project engineers to ensure design input into cost, schedule, and other decisions is accurate and complete.
• Perform mechanical development, design changes, drawing packages across multiple projects.
• Create and review U.S. Navy technical drawings, plans, and specifications using CAD software.
• Work independently and in cross‑discipline teams under leadership guidance.
• Communicate ideas and concepts clearly in written and oral form.
• Contribute to design teams to meet project goals in a collaborative environment.
• Conduct trade studies, design of experiments, and assembly/testing of parts and assemblies.
• Ensure project reliability, safety, and performance.
