Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Piping & Static Equipment) to provide technical stewardship for piping systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks at an LNG operating facility.

This role supports asset integrity, troubleshooting, maintenance, and turnarounds while collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Integrity, Projects, and contractors to improve reliability, safety, and operability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Significant LNG facility or comparable process industry experience.
  • Experience with operating facilities, not solely design/EPC.
  • Experience with piping systems and static equipment.
  • Experience participating in or leading MOC activities.
  • Troubleshooting in live operating environments.
  • Knowledge of asset integrity and reliability practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for piping systems and static mechanical equipment.
  • Perform fitness-for-service and integrity evaluations.
  • Lead troubleshooting for equipment reliability and operational issues.
  • Support inspection, maintenance, repair, and turnaround activities.
  • Review engineering calculations and repair recommendations.
  • Participate in MOC processes and ensure codes compliance.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to optimize asset performance.
  • Support capital and expense projects from concept to execution.
  • Develop and review equipment strategies, procedures, and docs.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors on asset improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Rate: Starts at $60/hr (Open to negotiating higher based on prior experience)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Piping & Static Equipment Engineer) to provide technical stewardship and engineering support for piping systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, fired equipment, and other fixed assets within an LNG operating facility. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations through equipment integrity management, engineering evaluations, troubleshooting, maintenance support, project execution, and Management of Change (MOC) activities. The successful candidate will serve as a key resource within the Reliability Engineering function, partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Integrity, Projects, and external contractors to improve asset performance, reliability, safety, and operability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support for piping systems and static mechanical equipment across operating LNG facilities.
  • Perform fitness-for-service evaluations and integrity assessments on pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping systems, and fired equipment.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment reliability and operational issues.
  • Support inspection, maintenance, repair, and turnaround activities for fixed assets.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, technical evaluations, equipment modifications, and repair recommendations.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes and ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Support capital and expense projects from concept through execution.
  • Develop and review equipment strategies, specifications, procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams to implement asset improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Significant experience supporting LNG facilities or comparable process industries such as:
    • Natural Gas Processing
    • LNG Export/Import Facilities
    • Petrochemical Plants
    • Refining
    • Midstream Gas Facilities
    • Chemical Manufacturing Facilities
  • Strong background supporting operating facilities rather than solely design or EPC environments.
  • Experience with piping systems and static equipment including:
    • Pressure Vessels
    • Heat Exchangers
    • Storage Tanks
    • Fired Equipment
    • Piping Networks
  • Experience participating in or leading Management of Change (MOC) activities.
  • Proven capability troubleshooting equipment issues in a live operating environment.
  • Knowledge of asset integrity and reliability practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Experience with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs.
  • Familiarity with API, ASME, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Prior experience supporting LNG terminals or liquefaction facilities.
  • Reliability Engineering experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Hands-on engineer with direct operational facility experience.
  • Strong communicator capable of working across Operations, Maintenance, Integrity, and Project teams.
  • Proven ability to identify reliability risks and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic plant environment supporting critical fixed assets.
