Job description

We are seeking a talented and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our team, driving the design, development, and validation of mechanical components, hydraulic systems, and electro-mechanical integrations. The ideal candidate will apply Agile and Lean methodologies within a global, collaborative environment, utilizing advanced engineering analysis and simulation tools to optimize performance and reliability. This role requires expertise in material selection, set-based design approaches, and DFx principles to ensure cost-effective, manufacturable, and assembly-friendly solutions. If you are a proactive project leader with a passion for building prototypes, managing schedules, and working closely with international suppliers and partners, we want you to help us bring groundbreaking products from concept to reality.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1. Design, develop, validate and document the fundamental function of mechanical components and systems, hydraulic systems, integration of electro-mechanical systems, and packaging of electronic systems
2. Utilize Agile & Lean development methodologies, and effectively operate with a global mindset
3. Analyze stress, deflection, and fluid flow characteristics using engineering principles, calculations, and simulation tools
4. Select and specify materials and processes for use in final products
5. Incorporate a set-based design approach, and clearly articulate requirement trade-offs
6. Implement DFx principles, where x = Cost, Manufacturability, Assembly, etc.
7. Exhibit project leadership and ability to manage schedules and expenses
8. Interface with external suppliers and design partners to ensure adherence to schedule and quality of delivery
9. Coordinate with global resources throughout projects
10. Construct prototype and proof of concept models
11. Limited travel, including international, may be an opportunity

WHO YOU ARE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years mechanical engineering experience demonstrating capability of owning the development and delivery of new mechanical, electro-mechanical, and/or hydraulic subsystems while interfacing in cross-functional global teams
• Able to create detailed solid models and drawings of injection molded plastic and sheet metal parts with advanced material property knowledge, using 3D modeling software
• Proficient in completing tolerance analyses for critical to fit and critical to quality dimensions
• Proven leadership ability in a global product development and delivery environment
• Complete development process experience, including project definition, development, testing, subsystem integration, component qualification (PPAP), release to manufacturing
• Experience with DFMEA, DOE, Project Management, and Engineering Change Processes
• Must possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Desirable:

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Advanced usage and knowledge of CREO Parametric CAD software
• Experience in lab and manufacturing environments
• Experience using Value Add and Value Analysis techniques
• Experience with user interface design and human factors
