A leading company in shipbuilding is seeking a Senior Marine Designer to develop and review CAD designs for high-quality ship projects. This role involves leading junior designers and collaborating with various teams to ensure the best outcomes on vessel construction projects.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Senior Marine Designer to support 2D and 3D drawing development for shipbuilding projects. In this role, you will create and review detailed designs, lead junior drafters, and collaborate closely with production teams, customers, and equipment manufacturers to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings.
Check and review drawings produced by CAD Drafters and Designers (Levels I–III).
Coordinate with production management, cross-functional design teams, business partners, customers, and vendors.
Interpret schematics, structural plans, and system diagrams to create accurate 3D models.
Lead and train junior designers, set work schedules, and ensure compliance with technical standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree or higher in CAD preferred.
Minimum 8 years of 3D modeling experience and 10 years in ship design, production, or construction.
Experience with:
High-speed aluminum vessel construction (preferred).
Modular construction methods (preferred).
U.S. Navy vessel design and construction (preferred).
Strong proficiency in 2D/3D AutoCAD and ShipConstructor; experience with Navisworks is a plus.
Familiar with vessel systems including equipment, electrical, fitout, foundations, hull, HVAC, piping, and structure.
Able to interface models across disciplines and prevent interferences.
Strong communication skills and ability to work under tight schedules.
Additional Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older and a U.S. Person.
Able to pass background checks and drug screening.
No recent felony convictions related to theft, violence, or drug crimes per eligibility guidelines.
