Job summary

Meta seeks a Hardware Thermal Engineer to own thermal design end-to-end for new hardware, from concept to validation. You will work with design, vendors, and operations to ensure robust cooling solutions for servers and devices.

You will develop analytical and numerical models, run CFD simulations, and lead validation activities across lab environments. This role requires hands-on testing and cross-disciplinary collaboration to drive scalable thermal programs.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and/or 6+ years in thermal design for servers/hardware.
• Experience with computational thermal simulation software (Flotherm, Future Facilities, Icepak).
• Experience using lab equipment for thermal validation and troubleshooting.
• Experience designing thermal cooling solutions (heat sinks, fan control).
• Ability to interpret and create mechanical schematics using CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Own thermal design and optimization for hardware and systems.
• Develop/test plans to measure thermal performance and simulate cooling.
• Design cutting-edge cooling solutions balancing design, cost, power.
• Create analytical models describing system thermodynamics and heat transfer.
• Lead external vendors on design, test, and production.
• Publish case studies on thermal analysis of cooling systems.
• Set parameters for design/testing and validate predictions.
