Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Safford, AZ, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II - Projects to lead multidisciplinary teams in design, analysis and project execution.

You will coordinate engineering activities to meet schedules and budgets and ensure project documentation is accurate. Role requires travel to the Phoenix Hub at least one day per month and across operations, with emphasis on safety, quality and continuous improvement of mining processing facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with related experience.
• Experience in capital projects and mining/process facilities preferred.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design, redesign and failure analysis activities.
• Prepare engineering reports, studies and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in project meetings.
• Evaluate vendor proposals for codes and standards compliance.
• Model, simulate and evaluate design components using software.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes and knowledge sharing.
• Perform other duties as required.
