Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Morenci, AZ, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead and support multiple engineering projects at the open-pit copper mining complex.

You will guide project teams, manage budgets, and implement new technologies to improve safety, efficiency, and environmental protection. The role requires a technical degree with several years of engineering experience, strong analytical skills, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering discipline) with 3 years of related engineering experience.
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering discipline) with 2 years of related engineering experience.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to research and analyze information and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; compliance with safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned Mechanical Engineering projects and programs, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
• Participates as a team member to review, investigate and develop recommendations for assigned engineering projects.
• Contributes to mechanical engineering design plans and requirements.
• Serves as Project Manager or Technical Advisor on small-to-medium site engineering projects, including new or modified systems and processes.
• Involves project development, budgeting, AR preparation, contract management, electrical engineering, purchasing, construction, cost controls, and quality controls.
