Job summary

Red 6 Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a mechanical design engineer to translate product needs into production-ready designs. You will define requirements, generate BOMs, drawings, and test plans while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability.

You will mature early concepts into robust, production-ready solutions, support verification activities, and contribute to schedules with project management. A security clearance may be required for sensitive programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of hands-on product design and prototyping experience in precision mechanisms, electromechanical systems, or optical systems.
• Experience with cross-functional collaboration to solve design and UX challenges.
• Strong knowledge of 3D mathematics, modeling, and simulation.
• DFM and DFA skills with tolerance management.
• Experience with PCB integration and rapid-prototyping methods.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering and design reviews within a cross-functional team.
• Develop drawings and specifications; review vendor proposals for compliance and provide system-level support.
• Define component-level requirements with stakeholders across disciplines.
• Perform research to identify optimal technologies within cost constraints.
• Establish guidelines for system and component specifications.
• Apply design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly principles.
