Job summary

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join the Omaha Design Center. This role supports mechanical systems design, procurement, and construction activities for power generation and heavy industrial facilities, working within a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and about two years of related experience, with strong communication, reading of drawings, and teamwork skills emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Approximately 2 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with power generation or heavy industrial projects preferred.
• Ability to read drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design and specification of mechanical systems for power and industrial facilities.
• Prepare equipment specs, data sheets, and inquiry packages for pumps, exchangers, tanks, piping.
• Participate in procurement activities including bid evaluations and vendor reviews.
• Review vendor drawings for compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Develop scopes of work, calculations, and design documentation.
• Coordinate with process, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as layouts, P&IDs, and packages.
• Conduct site visits and field walkdowns to verify conditions.
• Read and interpret drawings and technical reports.
• Contribute to project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives under senior staff.
