Job summary

Hargrove Engineers + Constructors is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to perform routine design work under supervision and assist with larger projects. The role supports stress analysis, piping specifications, and cost studies while developing conceptual layouts for efficient solutions.

The candidate will contribute to calculations, drawings, and vendor reviews, working closely with discipline leaders to ensure timely project delivery. A BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering and EIT are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
• EIT registration strongly preferred; Professional Engineering registration preferred upon eligibility
• 1+ year of relevant mechanical engineering experience
• Knowledge of piping materials and design standards
• Familiarity with CAD drafting standards and company design conventions
• Ability to perform stress analysis and piping flexibility calculations
• Experience with material procurement specifications and valve sizing
• Strong communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine design of less complex mechanical engineering assignments under supervision
• Support design of larger, more complex mechanical engineering tasks
• Contribute to stress analysis, construction specifications, and piping estimates
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies
• Produce preliminary designs and material take-offs
• Prepare detailed design calculations and sketches for materials of construction
• Assist drafting group with layout and detailing issues
• Coordinate with design leaders from other disciplines for information flow
• Review vendor and discipline drawings for mechanical input
• Assist with piping flexibility analysis and selection of piping specialty items
