Job summary

Ultra Maritime is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to support sonobuoy production and design, ensuring conformance to qualified designs and monitoring performance. The role collaborates with design engineering and production teams to drive quality, manufacturability, and efficiency across programs.

Responsibilities include materials selection, drafting reviews, design analysis, and root-cause investigations while enabling smooth cross-functional communication and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and PFMEA is a plus.
• Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate materials and process to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.
• Create, interpret, review and maintain engineering documentation (Prints, Specifications, etc.)
• Evaluate design and manufacturing processes through analysis and test
• Perform root cause and corrective action analysis on returned hardware
• Support supplier quality and manufacturing with DfM and troubleshooting
• Foster technical collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines and across business functions
• Write reports and present technical content at peer and design reviews
