Job summary

Ultra Maritime’s Electrical Engineering team supports development and production of ASW technologies for the U.S. Navy and allied forces.

You will report to the manager of Electrical Engineering and support sonobuoy production engineering within an integrated product support team. Responsibilities include leading RCAs, mentoring engineers, ensuring compliance with specs, and coordinating with suppliers to resolve issues while maintaining project timelines and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 7+ years of experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot analog, digital, power electronics, and RF circuits.
• Ability to obtain U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines to resolve complex technical issues.
• Lead Root‑Cause Corrective Action investigations of electrical/hardware issues during production.
• Serve as a senior technical resource for production electrical engineering activities and mentor less‑experienced engineers.
• Conduct technical studies, risk assessments, and engineering reviews to ensure compliance with specifications and timelines.
• Generate and lead engineering change documentation, including customer-facing documents for hardware changes.
• Lead/Support transition-to-production activities ensuring designs and processes are production-ready.
• Support Design Engineering with cost-reduction efforts, testing, troubleshooting, and prototyping.
• Interface with suppliers to evaluate nonconforming hardware and corrective actions.
• Travel up to 10% to UM and government test sites.

Position Summary

Ultra Maritime’s Electrical Engineering team supports development and production of cutting‑edge Anti‑Submarine Warfare (ASW) technology such as state‑of‑the‑art sonobuoy products and advanced ASW receiver systems, including sonobuoy receivers, RF front‑end modules, and digital signal processing electronics for the U.S. Navy and other navies around the world. You’ll be reporting to the manager of Electrical Engineering focusing on supporting sonobuoy production engineering needs working within an integrated product support team as well as supporting design engineering as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate and coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines to achieve and document concurrence, resolve complex technical issues, and minimize disruptions that may arise during production testing, integration, and manufacturing.
• Lead Root‑Cause Corrective Action investigations of complex electrical and hardware issues encountered during production and lot testing.
• Serve as a senior technical resource for production electrical engineering activities and provide guidance and mentoring to less‑experienced engineers.
• Conduct technical studies, risk assessments, and engineering reviews to ensure compliance with technical specifications, regulatory requirements, quality standards, and project timelines.
• Generate and lead engineering change documentation, including customer‑facing documentation, for hardware changes to current production products.
• Lead/Support transition‑to‑production activities, ensuring designs, test methods, documentation, and manufacturing processes are suitable for production.
• Support Design Engineering with cost‑reduction initiatives, production improvements, testing, troubleshooting, and prototyping activities.
• Interface directly with suppliers and support supplier‑related technical issues, including evaluation of nonconforming hardware, component issues, and corrective actions.
• 10% travel to various UM and government test sites.

Required Skills

• Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering. and 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot electrical hardware consisting of analog circuits, digital circuits, power electronics, and RF circuitry.
• Proficient with laboratory equipment including waveform generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other electrical test equipment.
• Capable of leading Root‑Cause Corrective investigations.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to independently prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a fast‑paced production environment.
• Ability to provide technical information clearly to engineers, manufacturing personnel, management, customers, and suppliers.
• Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to less‑experienced engineers.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Security clearances are only granted to U.S. citizens.

Desired Skills

• Experience with simulation and analysis tools (e.g., SPICE, PSpice, LTspice, Simulink, LabVIEW).
• Experience with CAD software (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence, OrCAD, Multisim, and/or LTspice) for schematic capture.
• Programming skills in MATLAB, Java, and C languages.
• Strong writing skills.

Physical Requirements

• Candidate must be capable of occasional lifting of 40 pounds, waist high, with no assistance.
• Normal finger dexterity, and normal color vision.

Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and 7+ years of experience within a relevant complex engineering environment. May be required to maintain security clearance.
