Job summary

Verathon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for its Urology R&D team in Bothell, WA. You will design mechanical systems for bladder volume measurement products and contribute to a market-leading line within a structured NPD framework.

We value 2+ years of related medical device experience, strong problem-solving, and skills in SolidWorks, Python, and math-based tools. This role emphasizes on-site work and collaboration across stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or relevant engineering field.
Experience with solid modeling; SolidWorks preferred.
Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
Experience in the medical device industry or other highly regulated industry is preferred.
Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Experience with MathCAD, Minitab, and Python is preferred.
Product development experience in medical device environment specific to diagnostic imaging is preferred.
Knowledge of design for injection molding is preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as technical contributor for major development projects or multiple simultaneous projects.
Ensure that engineering design activities follow the development procedure and maintain strict design control.
Create and release product requirements, design specifications and design descriptions for assigned projects, as required by applicable medical device standards and internal procedures.
Interact with internal and external stakeholders as well as manufacturing resources to design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Design robust systems using knowledge of manufacturing processes capabilities and component tolerances requirements.
Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility or remediate previous designs.
Manage project scope, and coordinate proposals and expense controls. Develop business justifications and cost proposals for capital equipment, prototyping, and V&V activities.
Research, and implement emerging technologies to advance medical device design using appropriate materials, and technology that can be transferred to production and manufacturing systems.
Design of 3D models and 2D drawings including but not limited to injection molded plastic, machined components, dynamic systems, stamped sheet metal and integrated systems.
Knowledge and use of additive manufacturing technologies in part design and prototyping is required.
