Job summary

RTM Engineering Consultants seeks a Mechanical Engineer II to design mechanical systems and create construction drawings, coordinating with the client and design team throughout the project.

The role involves producing HVAC designs, load calculations, and equipment selection while ensuring adherence to codes and project schedules. A strong mentoring culture and RTM University support professional growth.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC/plumbing/fire protection systems.
• Knowledge of engineering drafting standards and design standards.
• Expert knowledge of building codes and standards.
• Understanding of construction process and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provides complete management of project timelines and related design activity communication between the design team and the client/customer, accurately & timely.
• Produces mechanical systems design elements consistent with project specifications.
• Produces design elements in accordance with the project hours, scope & parameters.
• Provides research design options consistent with project requirements.
• Produces load calculations within project parameters.
• Selects appropriate equipment for project type.
• Creates construction HVAC documents for permitting that are accurate and complete.
• Executes initial QA/QC process.
• Provides project coordination with in-house and outside sources.
• Participates in post design activities through construction completion.
• Follows work rules and procedures.
• Engages with team to improve processes and reduce costs.
• Takes on other duties as assigned.
