Job summary

TAI is seeking a Back Mechanical Engineer II in Dallas, Texas to design and deliver HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection solutions across diverse projects. You will own tasks from analysis to construction documentation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex challenges and shape high-performance building systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• FE certification or ability to take FE exam.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of mechanical engineering design experience on relevant projects, including HVAC air side and plumbing systems.
• Minimum 2 years of experience preparing heating and cooling load calculations.
• Minimum 2 years of experience performing ductwork or piping pressure drop calculations.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in Revit, including setting up jobs and designing mechanical and/or plumbing systems.
• Minimum 1 year of experience preparing basic equipment selections for HVAC or plumbing.
• Ability to perform field work that includes walking, kneeling, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and/or ladders.
• Willingness to travel to client sites and work in an office at least two days per week.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and complete individual engineering tasks with limited direction and supervision.
• Work independently on a variety of assignments with knowledge of codes, regulations, and industry standards for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
• Conduct field surveys and document existing conditions.
• Perform engineering calculations and develop preliminary and detailed designs.
• Create drawing specifications and perform mechanical design and drafting.
• Coordinate with vendors for equipment selections.
• Develop quality control checklists and monitor task progress.
• Guide Engineer I and designers in creating drawings.
