Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to advance next-generation processing equipment from concept to deployment. You will design, build, test, validate, and commission complex mechanical systems powering high-temperature electrolysis, furnace technologies, and novel electrochemical processes.

This hands-on role thrives in a fast-paced R&D environment, turning ambitious concepts into reliable hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years designing, building, testing complex equipment.
• Familiarity with V-Model system development.
• SolidWorks experience for drawings and fabrication.
• Hands-on lab, pilot or industrial deployment experience.
• Able to wear respirator and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work in fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical systems from concept through deployment.
• Design processing equipment for high-temp electrolysis and furnaces.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation.
• Select components like pumps, bearings, actuators.
• Develop verification and validation plans.
• Perform experiments and data analysis to validate concepts.
• Assemble and test tooling and pilot-scale equipment.
• Drive rapid design-build-test iterations.
• Investigate issues and implement design improvements.
• Ensure safety and proper documentation.
