Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for an onsite role in Tewksbury/Andover, MA. You will contribute to mechanical design, system integration, and release processes for Ground Based Defense systems, collaborating with various disciplines and suppliers to ensure robust solutions.

Responsibilities include design modeling, change management, and supporting the lifecycle from concept to production, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and drive program success.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges.
• Experience participating in design reviews, driving action-item closure, and conducting engineering trade studies.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage engineering tasks and deliver against technical, schedule, and cost commitments.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD and Product Data Management (PDM) systems; experience with Creo, SolidWorks, or NX is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve change requests from manufacturing or suppliers.
• Develop rework or modification procedures to support product updates.
• Support the full product lifecycle from concept definition through detailed design, release to production, and post-production support of Ground Based Defense System including Effectors.
• Work closely with other engineering disciplines, non-technical functions, and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges.
• Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to inform technical decisions.
• Manage tasks independently and ensure timely delivery of technical, schedule, and financial commitments.
• Mentor and support less experienced engineers, contributing to team development and technical growth.
