Position Summary
The Defense Systems Division is part of the Parker Aerospace Group in Irvine, California. This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on designing, modeling, analyzing, testing, and documenting mechanical and electro‑mechanical components, sub‑systems, and primary systems for defense applications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform engineering assignments for the design and documentation of mechanical and electro‑mechanical components from concept to production.
- Support the test, qualification, and production handoff of mechanical and electro‑mechanical components, sub‑systems, and primary systems.
- Assist with drawing release, drawing handoffs, approval, engineering change notices, revisions, design reviews, test plans, reports, procedures, and design for manufacturing.
- Assist in the resolution of issues affecting legacy products and processes.
- Prepare and present materials for design reviews with peers, suppliers, and customers.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and with other departments.
- May provide direction to junior level engineers, designers, and draftspersons.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.M.E.) from an accredited college or university.
- 2–5+ years of experience with design, modeling, analysis, documentation, and/or fabrication of mechanical and/or electro‑mechanical components, sub‑systems, and primary systems.
- Solid modeling experience of parts, sub‑assemblies, and assemblies using PDM.
- In‑depth knowledge of specifications and standards, including ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to conduct effective presentations to engineers, suppliers, and customers.
- Hands‑on test, hardware, and general machine shop experience is a plus.
- Travel may be required, including domestic and possibly foreign.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Defense or aerospace industry experience.
- SolidWorks and/or Creo solid modeling experience using PDM.
- Knowledge and understanding of military specifications and standards.
Pay, Benefits, Work Schedule
- Pay Range: $83,250 to $138,550 annually.
- Participation in Annual Incentive Program.
