Job summary

D-Wave Quantum Inc. in New Haven is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join our engineering team and contribute to the design and development of advanced hardware for quantum computing systems.

You will work hands-on with cryogenic, vacuum, and electromechanical subsystems, translate ambitious concepts into buildable hardware, and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and experimentation to push the boundaries of quantum technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 3+ years of professional mechanical design or engineering experience.
  • Solid modeling experience in a professional CAD system.
  • Experience creating and interpreting detailed mechanical drawings with tolerances and GD&T.
  • Proficiency designing machined and sheet-metal components.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude demonstrated in lab work or fabrication.
  • Ability to perform first-order engineering analyses and communicate assumptions and tradeoffs clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, test, and improve mechanical components and subassemblies for complex electromechanical systems.
  • Develop and maintain CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation for prototype builds and releases.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles including tolerances, material selection, and DFMA/DFX.
