Job summary

Hive + Co is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for a full-time hybrid role in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, supporting the FAA ARFF Research Program. The engineer will apply rigorous engineering methods to research, test, and evaluate ARFF technologies, with onsite testing and partial remote work.

The role requires ABET-accredited degree, 5+ years of experience, and ability to deliver analyses, reports, and designs with minimal supervision while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Ability to apply mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and materials science.
• Strong written and verbal communication for reports and presentations.
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D efforts, develop test plans, setups, data collection, and analyses.
• Work in outdoor/ testing environments with PPE; firefighting experience encouraged.
• Develop test plans, drawings, instrumentation layouts, data systems.
• Conduct system analyses across mechanical, thermal, fluid, and structural domains.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to FAA.
