Job summary

SOC LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for a DIRECT HIRE opportunity in Atlantic City, NJ. This hybrid role requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance and involves engineering support for ARFF research, testing, and evaluation.

You will independently lead R&D efforts, develop test plans and data systems, and prepare reports for FAA stakeholders. A strong mechanical background and hands-on experience are essential, with travel 2–3 times/year as needed.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in research, testing, or related fields.
• Experience developing and executing test plans and analyzing data.
• Strong knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and materials science.
• Experience with SolidWorks or CAD.
• Strong technical writing and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise to support ARFF research, testing, and operations.
• Plan, design, and execute experiments involving fire testing, thermal systems, fluid flow, and mechanical systems.
• Develop detailed test plans, engineering drawings, instrumentation layouts, and data acquisition systems.
• Conduct system analysis of mechanical, thermal, fluid, and structural systems using engineering tools.
• Perform data collection, reduction, and analysis to support findings and conclusions.
• Develop cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and logistics plans for tasks.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues with test setups, instrumentation, and equipment.
• Support fabrication, installation, and validation of test articles and instrumentation.
