Job summary

CesiumAstro in Melbourne, FL seeks a Mechanical Engineer I to lead end-to-end mechanical design and validation for satellite hardware, including electronics packaging and environmental qualification. The role requires CAD in SolidWorks/CATIA/Creo, FEA (ANSYS), GD&T, and experience with machining/CNC processes; collaboration with electrical engineers across product development.

The candidate should have strong communication, be capable in a startup-like environment, and possess a related degree

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/aerospace/civil/industrial design or related field, 0–2 years’ experience
Understanding of mechanical engineering principles
Analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo or AutoCAD
DFM/DFMA implications of material and process selection
Knowledge of GD&T, drafting standards, and documentation practices
Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS or MATLAB
Experience with CNC manufacturing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end mechanical designs through development phases
Perform simulations and analyses including thermal management and EMI/EMC mitigation
Create and validate CAD models and manufacturing drawings
Present design review materials to customers and leadership
Support in-orbit operations and qualification activities
