Job summary

dawarconsulting seeks a Mechanical Engineer I for a Santa Clara, CA-based project in a biotech setting focused on single-molecule DNA sequencing. This long-term contract role provides W2 pay and benefits and involves hands-on development of consumable fluidic devices.

You will support flowcell manufacturing, assist SolidWorks design, perform metrology, testing, and data reporting, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet milestones.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of industry experience; hands-on laboratory or engineering experience preferred.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets.
• Experience with microfluidics, microfabrication, materials characterization, metrology, or microscopy is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support flowcell manufacturing, assembly, and process development for consumable fluidic devices.
• Assist with SolidWorks design activities and engineering documentation.
• Perform dimensional, mechanical, and surface metrology measurements, data analysis, and reporting.
• Conduct component testing, quality inspections, and sample preparation for external analysis.
• Manage component inventory, shipping/receiving, and laboratory support activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support project milestones.
