Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I for our Washington, DC office to help deliver energy‑efficient building solutions and sustainable design.

Ideal candidates have an ABET‑accredited BSME/BSAE, GPA 2.5+, and internship experience in MEP consulting. You will perform load calculations, sizing, layouts, and equipment selection while developing leadership skills on multi‑discipline projects.

Qualifications

• BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non‑academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities preferred.
• EIT certification (Passed FE exam) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform load calculations, determine system sizing and layouts, calculate equipment sizes, and review equipment shop drawings.
• Lead mechanical project teams as you gain experience and participate in client meetings.
• Write specifications and support construction‑phase work.
