Job summary

Legrand is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join the Custom Development team in Chicago, IL. You will lead luminaire development from concept to production, prototype, validate, and coordinate with manufacturing and suppliers while maintaining cost and schedule goals.

Responsibilities include design ownership, documentation, and supporting multiple projects in various stages of development. A strong foundation in 3D CAD, GD&T, and cross-functional collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of professional engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD; SolidWorks preferred.
• Working knowledge of GD&T.
• Experience in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects to develop products meeting customer requirements.
• Apply creative thinking and analysis to develop concepts.
• Analyze risks and root out issues early in the design process.
• Hands-on product design: prototype, demonstration spaces, and manufacturing collaboration.
• Establishing timeline commitments and coordinate communication updates to all areas of the business.
• Ownership of complete project deliverables, including design documentation, ordering system setup, production documentation, sales tools, cost model, etc.
• Simultaneously support multiple projects in various phases of development.
