Job summary

Legrand AV, Inc. in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join the Focal Point team on the Product Development team. The role involves developing and supporting world-class luminaire designs and working with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary group to bring new or enhanced products to market.

The position emphasizes training, troubleshooting, and proactive process improvement, with opportunities to grow within Engineering and contribute to multiple projects concurrently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or Associate's degree in a technical program
• Proficient in 3D CAD software; SolidWorks preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience with hands-on prototyping
• Experience with design drawings, BOMs, and documentation

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to bring architectural luminaires to market and improve existing products
• Ownership of project deliverables, including design drawings, design review action items, supporting documentation, bill of materials, packaging, instruction sheets, etc.
• Assist project teams with design, bill of material generation, CAD drawing modifications
• Support production through training, communicating custom requirements, and troubleshooting
• Assemble prototype designs and install mockups
• Simultaneously support multiple projects
• Collaborate with regulatory and field support teams as needed
• Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with all support functions
• Continuously look for opportunities to improve engineering processes
