Job summary

Legrand in Saint Louis, MO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead new luminaire designs from concept to production. You will develop highly configurable product families that balance quality, performance, and cost, working with SolidWorks and EPDM to create 3D models, drawings, and documentation.

You will drive sustaining engineering changes, DFMA improvements, and custom product development while collaborating with operations, sales, and marketing to meet customer needs and ensure successful

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• Proficient in Solidworks and mechanical design; proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of project management and stage gate methodologies.
• Working knowledge of DFMA.

Responsibilities

• Improve existing products via DFM/DFA; liaise with ops to reduce costs.
• Concept, prototype, test and review changes with team.
• Design reviews during development and production release.
• Coordinate inputs from sales, marketing, purchasing, and production.
• Create and standardize BOMs and ECN procedures.
• Manage documentation for changes before production.
• Develop modified and custom products; assist sales with specs.
• Create BOMs and Production Orders for assemblies.
• Use Solidworks and EPDM for all design work.
• Assist with mock-ups, prototypes and vendor assessments.
