LVI Associates in Pittsburgh is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection exposure to join a collaborative engineering practice. You will contribute to diverse projects across education, healthcare, commercial, and institutional markets.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in MEP consulting, strong HVAC fundamentals, and experience with Revit and AutoCAD. The role offers hybrid work flexibility and opportunities for professional licensure support and ongoing development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 3+ years in MEP consulting.
  • HVAC design for commercial, institutional, healthcare, or educational facilities.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing and/or fire protection systems.
  • Revit and AutoCAD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation and related mechanicals.
  • Coordinate plumbing and fire protection design with other disciplines.
  • Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing and selection.
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications and reports.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors and other engineers.
  • Attend site visits, field investigations and construction administration.
  • Support project managers to maintain schedules and deliverables.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Revit and other software for design.
  • Review shop drawings and RFIs, ensuring code compliance.

Position Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, and related mechanical systems.
  • Assist with the design and coordination of plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection.
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction administration activities.
  • Support project managers in maintaining project schedules and deliverables.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering software tools to develop project designs.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs).
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and industry standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in MEP consulting engineering.
  • Experience designing HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, or similar facilities.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing and/or fire protection systems.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • EIT certification preferred; PE license or path toward licensure is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a team-oriented environment.
