Job summary

The New York City Fire Department's Bureau of Fire Prevention seeks an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to support the review and enforcement of fire safety systems in buildings citywide.

Candidates must hold a mechanical engineering degree (or related) with required experience and demonstrate knowledge of NYC Codes and Standards, including building and fire codes, plus strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechatronics with one year of full-time satisfactory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering technology with three years of full-time satisfactory experience.
• Bachelor's degree and a master's degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics from an accredited college.
